After the success of the first edition of the “International Dance Festival” in Lebbeke, we will performe a second one. The concept of the Festival is simular to the first one: bringing together young professional dancers and choreographers between 18 and 26 years, working in different Dance Companies. They will work around neo–classical inspired contemporary dance.
These 10 professional dancers/choreographers and one ballet master, 7 different nationalities, are working together on an evening filling Ballet. The performances will be held on 17 July 2010 at 8 PM and on 18 July 2010 at 3 PM and at 8 PM in the “CC De Biekorf” in Lebbeke. Of the10 professional dancers are 4 dancers/choreographers: Bert Uyttenhove – Belgium, Clément Bugnon – Switzerland, Matthias Kass – Germany and Yuya Fujinami – Japan. More, there will be also two choreographies of choreographers who will not dance on the Festival: Boris Randzio – Oostenrijk en Craig Davidson – Australië.
the performance
Due to the difference in companies the cooperating choreographers are dancing, they are influenced in different ways in style, culture and people which garantees a variated program. This affords an interesting profoundness to the performance.
The challenges of this project is to bring together the work of young choreographers with those different backgrounds, in a performance that presents a unity of style and esthetics.
The Ballet performance will consist of an Opening in two parts, 5 new creations and an existing ballet. “Momentary” on the music of Arvo Pärt created in 2008 for “Coupe Maison 2″ of the Royal Ballet of Flanders, will be of neo–classical inspiration. It can be described as a mix between the technique of classical and contemporary dance, an exploration of eclecticism.
The different choreographies presented during the Festival will be performed by classically trained dancers, wishing to put their technique and aptitude to the service of new and inventive choreographers, who share their love for the esthetics of classical dance.
participation
Chris Caudron, the coördinator of the Dance Academy “De Gemeentelijke Academie voor Muziek, Woord & Dans” in Lebbeke has graciously agreed to participate in the Festival by creating the Opening of the performance, in two parts. Te Opening will be performed by her students, aged 7 to 14 years. Also will two of her students, attending professional education at the “Royal Balletschool of Antwerp”, and a student of the higher grade of the school perform in the Opening. The artistic team looks forward to the collaboration with the young dancers of Lebbeke and to share their passion for the stage.
